08.31.2007 NEW YORK-- Andy Roddick has won two matches at the US Open to reach the third which will be played either Saturday or Sunday against Thomas Johansson of Sweden. In round one Roddick defeated Gimbelstob 7-6 (8-6), 6-3, 6-3. In round two Roddick advanced when Jose Acasuso retired injured at 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Head to head Roddick leads Johansson 4-0 last winning this February in Memphis 6-2, 7-5. Johansson, ranked 68th is a solid player and won the Australian Open in 2002, but I think Roddick will outserve him in round three.

Andy had three set points in set one against Ferrer but was unable to convert any. "I just didn't do anything that I've been working on," Roddick said. "I was standing too far back. Roddick, who also won in in DC 2001 and 2005, earned his 23rd ATP title by figuring out Isner's serve, which had carried him to five straight wins. "I knew I had to win the second-set tiebreaker because I thought I had no chance in the third-set tiebreaker against him," Roddick joked. "I was fortunate to be able to hold my own serve because it was just one point. ... I was happy with the way I controlled the match with my serve."
