Andy Roddick Withdraws From Thai Open
09.26.2007 BANGKOK- Today Second seed Andy Roddick withdrew from the Thailand Open due to injury. Roddick called a news conference
30 minutes before his first round match with Taiwan's Yeu-Tzuoo Wang to announce he was pulling out with a foot injury sustained on Tuesday.
His withdrawal follows those of world numbers two and three, Rafael Nadal of Spain and Serbian Novak Djokovic, Asian number one Lee Hyung-taik
of South Korea, former top 10 Swede Joachim Johansson and home favorite Paradorn Srichaphan. "I came straight here to practice but I had
to stop, I hurt the bottom part of my foot, I spent the rest of yesterday getting treatment," said Roddick, who lost to Roger Federer in the final
of the 2004 tournament in Bangkok. "It felt ok, but I was in my room, something happened and I hurt it again. This is part of sport," he added.
"It's not fun, no one enjoys it."

09.26.2007 GOTEBORG-- Using his huge first serve, Roddick defeated Jonas Bjorkman 6-2, 7-6(7-3), 6-4 Sunday in a deciding victory over Sweden
that carried the United States into the finals. The U.S. will play defending champion Russia for the title Nov. 30-Dec. 3, with the Americans hosting
the finals for the first time since 1992. Russia defeated Germany 3-2 in the other semifinal in Moscow. Roddick didn't drop serve in two singles
matches, winning both in straight sets as the Americans ended a three-match losing streak against the Swedes dating to 1984.
After Roddick reeled off 16 aces to leave the U.S. ahead 3-1 in the best-of-five series, James Blake beat Simon Aspelin 6-1, 6-3 in a shortened
finale to make the score 4-1.
Andy Roddick Loses Again At US Open To Roger Federer
09.26.2007 NEW YORK-- At the US Open Roddick won two more matches defeating Thomas Johansson in the third round 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 and
defeating Thomas Berdych in the fourth round 7-6(8-6), 2-0 retired, before losing to world number one Roger Federer in the quarterfinals 7-6(7-5),
7-6(7-4), 6-2. Roddick played very well the first two sets against Federer hitting hard and serving big to keep Federer on the run, but was unable
to close either set out in the tiebreakers.
